The Criminology and African-American Studies Departments brought scholar and Director of New York’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Dr. Khalil Gibran Muhammad, to campus on Wednesday, October 23 to discuss race and crime in modern America. Dr. Muhammad’s 2011 book, The Condemnation of Blackness: Race, Crime, and the Making of Modern Urban America, received high praise and recognition for its groundbreaking approach to the study of crime and race in US history.
